Today I went for a walk in the center of Delft, not realising that there's some cultural event going on today. On my way to back to the bus stop, I stumbled on this stage in front of Theater De Veste, just when this band about to start performing. They started playing some jazz music very nicely.
The vocalist looks quite young... I didn't catch her name, or the name of the band, but she did introduce (in Dutch) the title of a song from a new album: "My recipe for a happy life". Although they're Dutch, they sing in English... and surprisingly they were good, the music is very catchy, and the vocalist has great voice.
Have been living for two years in Holland, I must say that Holland's music scene is nothing like Indonesia. Most of the time in Dutch radios you'd either hear some awful hip-hop song, occasionally Jason Mraz (thank God!), and some old songs. So it was a pleasant surprise for me to come across some great tunes.
I looked it up as soon as I got home, and turns up that it's not a band. It's just the vocalist: Kim Hoorweg. 16 years old, and already in her 2nd album!
If you're curious than you can see her myspace page here: http://www.myspace.com/kimhoorweg. Mean while, enjoy my - by far- favorite song from her.. Never Again.
